Gather with us for an evening of celebration featuring special remarks, a collective moment of takeoff, and an official launch of IMAGO. We'll recognize the artists, partners, and community whose creativity and collaboration brought this project to life.

IMAGO: A Living Art Experience is a public art initiative designed to celebrate creativity, connection, and transformation in Old Town Greenwood.
Inspired by the concept of transformation, IMAGO represents the final stage of development—a fully realized and visible expression of growth. Like a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis, the project reflects the evolution of individuals, ideas, and communities.
Throughout the 2026 Arts in Old Town summer series, IMAGO began to take shape through a combination of professionally created artwork and community participation, resulting in a dynamic public art experience that reflected the spirit of Old Town Greenwood.
MEET OUR LEAD ARTIST & CREATOR OF IMAGO: AMY BARILE
Old Town Greenwood, Inc. is proud to partner with Amy Barile, owner and artist of Teal Canary Art Studio, as the Lead Artist and creator IMAGO: A Living Art Experience.
In this role, Amy serves as the project's artistic director and lead creative partner, shaping the vision and execution of IMAGO from concept to completion.
She is leading project management for the initiative, overseeing the community engagement components, and guiding the creation of the community-painted butterfly panels that will evolve throughout the Arts in Old Town series. In addition, Amy will contribute her own professional artwork as part of the final installation.
Amy earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana State University in 1997 and has been a practicing artist for more than 30 years. Her work has been recognized throughout the community, including being selected as a winning mural design in the Johnson County Community Foundation's Color the County initiative.
Through Teal Canary Art Studio, Amy provides artistic and creative services, offers classes and workshops, and creates opportunities for artists and makers to share their talents with the community. Her passion for art extends beyond the canvas, combining creativity with a deep commitment to community engagement, education, and connection.
Through her leadership, artistic expertise, and commitment to community participation, Amy is helping transform IMAGO into a collaborative public art experience that celebrates creativity, connection, and the spirit of Old Town Greenwood.

IMAGO began with an idea, but turning that idea into something this big took people who were willing to believe in it and then get behind it in a big way.
We are incredibly grateful to Festival Country Indiana and its Board of Directors for doing just that.
When we asked for funding to bring IMAGO to life, the Board didn't just approve our request. They approved the maximum number of sculptures we asked for. They believed in the vision and recognized the potential for IMAGO to make a meaningful impact on tourism, public art, and the way people experience Old Town Greenwood. That vote of confidence allowed us to dream bigger and create something that will make Old Town a destination.
There are a few people with Festival Country that we would like to thank specifially:
Ken Kosky, Executive Director of Festival Country Indiana, has been instrumental in bringing IMAGO to life.
Ken has spent countless hours with us throughout this project, sharing his expertise, asking the right questions, helping shape the vision, and genuinely believing in what IMAGO could become. He has literally walked the streets of Old Town, helping think through locations and determine just the right spots for each installation. That's only a small part of everything he has contributed. His time, insight, enthusiasm, and willingness to get in the weeds made a tremendous difference.
We also want to give a huge thank you to Felicia Houston, Director of Operations & Creative Services.
Felicia worked closely with Amy Barile to develop the IMAGO logo and has helped bring the project to life visually through the IMAGO Field Guide and the Festival Country IMAGO website. And she didn't stop there. Felicia is also one of our IMAGO artists, making her connection to this project even more personal.
We are so grateful to the Festival Country Board, Ken, Felicia, and the entire Festival Country Indiana team for believing in this vision and helping us turn it into something we can all experience.

CALLING PROFESSIONAL ARTISTS
The first round of artists for IMAGO: A Living Art Experience has been selected, but the vision doesn’t stop there. Festival Country Indiana is exploring opportunities to grow IMAGO throughout Johnson County and is continuing to seek artists interested in being part of the initiative.
Selected artists may receive a butterfly sculpture panel or panels to transform into an original work of art. Artists are encouraged to bring their own creative perspective to the project, with designs inspired by themes such as transformation, nature, community, history, culture, and the unique character of the communities throughout Johnson County.
As IMAGO grows, these one-of-a-kind butterflies will become part of a larger collection of public art installations, creating opportunities for artists to share their work while bringing art, exploration, and community pride to destinations throughout Johnson County.
